measures to keep their workplaces violence free. Carol and Duane speak and
consult across North America on topics involving personal and travel safety, violence
in the workplace, and dealing with angry people.
They have 45 years combined law enforcement experience preventing and
responding to violent situations of all types and sizes.
Duane's career includes 31 years in law enforcement, serving in a variety of
urban policing positions, and more than ten years as a professional
speaker/trainer. He is a graduate of the FBI Criminal Investigation School
and the United States Secret Service Dignitary Protection School. Duane is a
certified trainer in Domestic and International Counter Terrorism, Weapons
of Mass Destruction and Bio-Chemical Warfare. His career also includes 30 years
of service in the United States Army Reserve. He is currently the Command
Sergeant Major for a Psychological Operations Battalion (EPW/CI) in Arden Hills,
Minnesota.
Carol's career includes fifteen years in law enforcement as a 911
Communications Operator, where she was awarded the Police Chief's
Commendation for saving the life of a police officer. She also has
extensive training in emergency services, hostage negotiation, crisis management, and
disaster preparedness. Carol has been speaking and consulting across North America for more than fourteen years.
She is a Past President of the National Speakers Association- Minnesota Chapter.
Carol and Duane are recognized across North America as violence prevention experts. When
a news story involving violence occurs, the media regularly consults with
Violence Free for their commentary and advice.
